Atletico Madrid - Real Mallorca
TEAM NEWS
Atletico Madrid
Aguirre will resist making wholesale changes to his starting eleven for the match against Mallorca; instead he will probably opt to stick with the same
side that played against city rivals Real last Saturday. On the injury front, Fabiano Eller is doubtful after picking up an ankle strain in the club’s UEFA Cup
Mallorca
Pierre Webo went down with an injury on the eve of the match against Atletico. The Cameroon international fractured his right foot in training and
initial reports suggest he will miss the Atletico match with the seriousness of the injury to be confirmed after an evaluation at the hospital.
Probable starting XI
Atletico:Franco, Ibanez, Perea, Pernia, Seitaridis, Garcia, Maniche, Maxi, Simao, Aguero, Forlan
Mallorca:Moya, Ballesteros, Hector, Navarro, Gutierrez, Ibagaza, Nunes, Pereyra, Guiza,Arango , Tuni
Atletico played well in the opening game of the season against city rivals Real Madrid, but didn't manage to get at least a point from that game. The board and the supporters have big expectations from the team this season (although they could't get Riquelme, they still have one of the best players in La liga). They have to win this game or they are going to be somethinh like the spanish version of Tottenham. Mallorca played well in their opening game against Levante, but it will be very difficult against this strong Atletico side.
Pick: Home win
Getafe - Recreativo
TEAM NEWS
Getafe
After last week's match, Francisco Sousa and Daniel Cortes are out suspended, while Cosmin Contra will rest up as his injury woes continue. The latter two are both right-backs, spelling selection troubles for Michael Laudrup. In midfield, Ruben de la Red and Granero have just signed on from Real Madrid but may not have done so in time to join the matchday squad. Laudrup could give Braulio a chance to debut up front with Uche, Kepa Blanco a possible candidate to move to the bench.
Recreativo
Quique Alvarez, the former Villarreal veteran, could make his competitive debut at centre-back after recovering from injury to make the squad, but the rest of the lineup could remain largely unchanged from Recre's last outing. Despite a last-minute flurry of activity in the transfer market, Recreativo are unlikely to incorporate any of their newcomers into the squad, meaning a dependable lineup built on the likes of Jesus Vazquez in midfield and Sinama-Pongolle up front.
PROBABLE STARTING XI
Getafe: Abbondanzieri; Belenguer, Cata Diaz, Mario, Licht; Pablo, Celestini, Casquero, Nacho; Kepa Blanco, Uche.
Recre: Sorrentino; Edu Moya, Quique Alvarez, Cacares, Dani Bautista; Varela, Jesus Vazquez, Martins, Marcos Barreno; Camunas, Sinama-Pongolle.
Here my bet isn't so much FOR Getafe, but AGAINST Recre. Last year they were total overachievers and i think that their second campaign in the top flight will be difficult- i think they will battle for survival. They have one of the lowest budgets in the liga and they lost their coach Marcelino to Racing Santander, replacing him with Victor Munoz. Although the departure of Schuster, Getafe are still the strong side from last year, their new manager Laudrup got good results in the pre-season. This season they will be missing star-striker Guiza, but Kepa Blanco and Uche(bought form Recre) should fill the gap left by him. Especialy Uche, who i like very much, he is a strong and pacy striker with a bright future ahead of him.
Pick: Home win, also Getafe to keep clean sheet-just remember last season
Torino-Reggina
TEAM NEWS
Torino
New signing David Di Michele is suspended until 30 October due to his involvement in a betting scandal, while captain Gianluca Comotto is suspended after getting sent off against Lazio with two yellow cards.Expect new-signing Recoba to some part in the game
Reggina
Portuguese defender Miguel Garcia is the only player out injured, as he has a problem to his knee.
Starting XI:
Torino (probable): Sereni; Vailatti, Natali, Di Loreto, Lanna; Barone, Corini, Grella, Rosina; Bjelanovic, Ventola
Reggina (probable): Campagnolo; Lanzaro, Valdez, Aronica, Modesto; Cascione, Barreto, Hallfredsson; Cozza, Amoruso, Vigiani
1 On paper Torino have far the better players.
2 Last season Reggina were very weak on away games.
3 Today Torina are celebrating 2 years since the new owner bought the club and invest a lot of money
Expect another breathtaking performance from Torino's star Rosina and a good display from Recoba to ensure Torino the 3 points
Pick: Home win
