Bosnia v Azerbaijan

Bosnia's football friendly against Azerbaijan was in doubt amid a revolt by most of the national side over the sacking of coach Meho Kodro earlier this month.

Nineteen of the squad said they would instead play a charity match at the same time - but at the Olympic Stadium in Sarajevo, not at the Zenica stadium where Sunday's friendly had been due.


Acting coach Denijal Piric said the game had to go ahead if Bosnia wanted to avoid possible FIFA sanctions and he would make up the numbers by drafting in players from the under-21 team.


Kodro was dismissed by the Bosnian Football Association after he refused to play a friendly against Iran, which was arranged behind his back.


The action caused outrage among players and fans, who have demanded Kodro's reinstatement and a shake-up among the officials who run Bosnian football.
