Smile English League 2: Grimsby & Leyton Orient

After the recent successes we are well ahead and we can continue the run with Grimsby in English league 2 + leyton Orient in league One.
Some other picks are listed in the newsletter and can be seen in the Picks menu from home page of the site.

    1. Accrington v Grimsby - Away win
very good odds with the -1EH

Tuesday last 4th September Grimsby put an end to their 9 games winless streak which started in April, when at home in the St Johnstone Paints Trophy they won by an impressive 4-1 score over higher division team Huddersfield. Prior to that win they showed in their league and cup games a curious record of six draws in a row followed by a 2-1 defeat at league two leaders Shrewsbury.

Indeed Grimsby were set to progress and were even fancied to play a leading role this season. They are yet to win a game in the league after three draws and one loss and boosted by their mid-week excellent performance, they will look for it today at rock-bottom Accrington Stanley.

They were beaten by Accrington 4-1 at their last visit in April last season but today matters seem set differently. Accrington have been very poor in the league (1W-3L up to now and are coming to the game on the back of five successive defeats including two home defeats in cup games against Leicester and Oldham. In four league games Accrington scored only one goal and conceded seven.

Grimsby have good chances to pick up the three points here. More so they are seeing the return of four players previously absent Ryan Bennett return after suspension, while Paul Bolland return after being carried off in the game against Shrewsbury and 18-year-old Andy Taylor returns to the bench.

As for Accrington their captain Peter Cavanagh is hopeful of overcoming a calf problem in time for the game but Paul Carden could again miss out and Graham Branch returns after a one-match suspension.

I believe Grimsby well able to win today and also by more than one goal margin after the strikers’ success of Tuesday.

I choose the away win and also with the -1EH at 5.0

    2. Leyton Orient v Bounemouth - Home win

    3. Leyton Orient v Bournemouth – Home Win
Unbeaten in four with three wins and a draw leaders Leyton Orient should be able to extend their good run when hosting rather poor Bournemouth who have already dropped 8 points in two defeats and one draw from the 12 available in four games. Bournemouth travel rather badly and Leyton who are good at home are further boosted by their mid-week win on Notts County in the St Johnstone Paints Trophy match. Home Win

    3. Carlisle v Tranmere – Home Win
Carlisle do well at home and have same records of 3W-1D-0L as the leaders Leyton Orient. They will look forward to do well in that league and they have good chances on Tranmere who in mid-week lost at home to promoted to league two Morecambe in the St Johnstone Paints Trophy. Home Win

    4. Leeds v Hartlepool – Draw / away
Hartlepool had long streaks of wins last season and in third seat are already chasing the leaders at only one point ahead. They will look forward to get another three points at Leeds. But the latter despite their last seat (due to -15 points penalty) have already won their four games in a row and share with Hartlepool the best attack (9 goals scored), while possessing a better defense having conceded three while Hartlepool conceded four. This game will be a hard fought one and I see a draw here. Draw or take either team with (+) handicap. Leeds will have some change in the back while Hartllepool might field an unchanged squad.
