Surprisingly , Head to head stats are on Ferrer side as he lead series 2:1. But both Ferrer wins were on clay while Djokovic won only match played on hard , this year in Indian Wells. At U.S Open Djokovic started with win against "lucky loser" Haase 3:0 but in second round he played against Stepanek who made serious problems to Serbian player , however Djokovic won that 5 sets marathon. After Stepanek , Djokovic was more confident and IMO he play better from one match to another. The other victims were Del Potro, Monaco and Moya. Djokovic is almost perfect player in his 20 years of age. He serve pretty well, has great baseline play and shows aggression during matches. It's really hard to play against him as he likes to control whole match.


His opponent , Ferrer won over Mayer, Serra , Nalbandian , Nadal and Chela and those are certainly names for respect, especially win over Nadal. But Spaniard came to U.S Open with injury. Against Novak Ferrer don't have any chances as Serbian plays in life form. I believe Ferrer will finish this season competition in semis and IMO he should be satisfied because it's great result for him.

Novak Djokovic to win US OPEN

Well, tournament is in semifinal stage and there are only two matches left for future champion of US Open.

In the first semifinal Djokovic will meet with Ferrer. Probably it wouldn't be an easy match for Djokovic as Ferrer has decent performances lately, but at the end Novak's quality should prevail. This is third straight GS semifinal for Djokovic and it's time to finally take his chances in final.

In second match , 'King' will play against Davydenko who is the only player who didn't lost set yet at US Open. I'm afraid he will lose all three against Federer. Last year at US Open they've also meet in semis and Federer won as well as previous 8 matches , so all is pretty clear , Federer should win this encounter.

Possible and very probable final is Djokovic against Federer. Djokovic improved much this season and I don't see any week part of his play. His serve is almost unbreakable with big percent of successful first serve, backhand is great , foot work one of the best in whole ATP tour. Djokovic also improved his volley and play from the base line. So, certainly player who deserve respect.
Federer is a defending champion of the US Open, moreover he won this tournament three times in a row. But Djokovic was to young then and I think he will be a real challenge to ATP No1 player. H2H Federer leads 4:1. Djokovic rising started this season in Dubai when he took his first set against Federer, rising continue in Montreal when Djokovic won against Federer in final and took his second Masters title , US Open should be cherry on the top.

Seriously, I believe Djokovic has at least 40 % chances to beat Federer and win US Open. IMO Novak perform better than Federer on hard surface. My money will be on first GS title for young Serbian and my pick is Novak Djokovic to win US Open. (5.60 @ Pinnacle). 4 or 5 /10.

Novak Djokovic - Roger Federer

Probably the best two players in the world will meet in this final. Djokovic had pretty tough draw for this season US Open, but after elimination of Hewitt and Nadal things got much easier for Serbian player. Novak showed big mentally strenght from the beginning of the tournament when he won against Stepanek after almost 5 hours of play. After that match everything was just fine for him and he deservedly make appearance in his first GS Final.

Like many times before , Federer made easy walk thru tournament. His appearance in the final was not under question mark in any match played so far in New York. Maybe the most uncertain outcome was against Davydenko in semis , but at the end champ won it in three sets.

Today's final will be certainly very interesting to watch. I'm expecting dog fight from the very beginning as both players will be very motivated to win this match. Beside GS title, Federer will be motivated to make revenge for previous match in Montreal , while Djokovic wants to prove that win was not perchance.

I think Novak could upset champion today but it's of course risky bet with odds around 5.00. For "sure" money you could go for Novak with set hc 2.5 and odds around 1.65. I believe Novak is capable to take at least one set today , probably more than one too. As I said both will be sharpened at the beginning of the match so don't be surprised if tie-break decide a winner of the opening set. My pick is not without a risk, Djokovic to take first set , 4.00 @ William Hill.

Federer played great and Djokovic was unlucky. He was 4-1 up in the 2nd set and he lost at TB.
