| 1. Scottish Division Three: Elgin v Albion Rovers – Home Win Elgin are in sixth place with 10-4-12 and a goal taqlly of 40-51. They are at one place above tonight vistors Albion R (8-5-13) and goal tally 42-51. Both teams share the second worse defense after East Sitrling (58). Elgin are however showing better current form with 5W-1D-4L in last ten and a 3-1 home win on rock-bottom Forfar in last game on Saturday. Albion are playing in decline and won only one of last ten with four draws and five losses. They are winless in last three(DLL) and lost last game at home to third bottom Dumbarton. With their better form and playing at home Elgin have better chances here. They won last three H2H with Albion 3-0, 3-2 at home and 4-3 away. Elgin striker Martin Charlesworth could return from injury to partner Jason Crooks up front. On Albion side Brian Smith and Callan Adam are missing for the trip. New arrival Jamie McDougall could be handed his starting debut after signing following a successful trial. I choose the home win here. 2. EPL: Liverpool v West Ham – Home win. Liverpool are back on a good run of three wins in a row after a slump in previous six games (2W-2D-2L). Standing in fifth place with 50 points and with that game in hand to the teams closest to them, Liverpool have much interests to look for the three points as the battle for the top places will be fierce with the 9th team at only six points away and if they win they’ll take the important fourth spot. Liverpool lost by 1-0 away at West Ham on 31st January. They will look forward to avenge this defeat. They went six games since then with results WDLWWW and scored at least two goals in each win. 3-0 on Sunderland, 2-0 on high-flying Italian team Inter, 3-2 on Middlesbro and 3-1 away at Bolton on Sunday last. They should be able to confirm their good run and pick up the three points here. Their opponents West Ham went four games since that win on Liverpool and showed rather poor LDWL results, the only win being at second-bottom Fulham by the minimum 1-0. West Ham lost last game 4-0 at home to Chelsea on Saturday. They lost 2-0 at Arsenal on 1st January. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez could shuffle his pack for the visit of West Ham, but defender Steve Finnan will miss out with a groin problem. Alvaro Arbeloa may play in place of Martin Skrtel, but Peter Crouch and Yossi Benayoun are eyeing starts. West Ham could be without midfielder Julien Faubert. They might well again concede a heavy defeat here. I take the home win. |
