Due to your interest in more predictions for the Euro group stage, I am more than glad to share my thoughts on this. Once again, I urge everyone to post their thoughts, agree or disagree with me, so we can have a clearer and better picture on what to bet. All odds posted are from Bwin, so this doesn't necessarily mean that everyone will be able to bet on these types of bets... I'm hoping though you will have something similar in your local bookie shop or on any other web based bookie :D

GROUP A
Switzerland
Czech Republic
Portugal
Turkey
How many goals will be scored in group A?
Pick : Under 13,5 @ 2.10
Can't really see big goal scoring games except in round two of this group. This group opens the tournament so somewhat tight games expected in the first round.
How many group stage goals will Czech Republic score?
Pick : Over 3,5 @ 1.80
How many group stage goals will Portugal score?
Pick : Under 4,5 @ 1.80
How many group stage goals will Switzerland score?
Pick : Under 3,5 @ 1.75
How many group stage goals will Turkey score?
Pick : Over 2,5 @ 1,65
The Czechs are more than capable of scoring a goal in every match they play and all they need is to score 2 against any of the three. Portugal's chances of scoring 5 or more goals aren't impossible, i just can't see them scoring twice 2 or more goals against 2 of the three teams here. First round like I said will be tough, so a minimum 1:0 win over Turkey will be more than enough. The home side are gonna have to give 200% if they are to achieve 4 goals. They need to score against the Czechs, Portugal and thrash Turkey to do so...I just can't see that happening. Turkey's chances of scoring 3 goals are very high imo. A 1:1 draw against either Portugal or Czech Republic is very possible and 2 goals against Switzerland isn't a fairytale..
How many points will Czech Republic record in the group stage?
Pick : 6 points @ 5.50 or 7 Points @ 7.00
How many points will Portugal record in the group stage?
Pick : 7 Points @ 4.00 or 9 Points @ 6.50
How many points will Switzerland record in the group stage?
Pick : 1 Point @ 6.00 or 3 Points @ 4.50
How many points will Turkey score in the group stage?
Pick : 1 Point @ 4.50 or 3 Points @ 4.25
Of course Portugal and the Czech Republic as favorites to take all the points here, it's just a matter of how they play each other that will decide the final outcome. As you can see, I'm giving Portugal the upper hand here. Turkey and host Switzerland are in the same position as the top two, only battling for that 3rd spot.
Who will score the most goals for Portugal?
Pick : Nuno Gomes @ 5.25 or Hugo Almeida @ 6.50
Who will score the most goals for the Czech Republic?
Pick : Jan Koller @ 2.75
Who will score the most goals for Turkey?
Pick : Nihat Kahveci @ 3.75
Who will score the most goals for Switzerland?
Pick : Alex Frei @ 3.00
I know a lot of people are expecting Ronaldo to come out as top scorer, but his role in the team will be more to assist rather than score. In Manchester he had a lot of quality players that organized the game, here he is expected to do so.. i suspect :) Also, every team will be looking to stop Ronaldo, no matter what, and for good reason. For the Czechs, it has to be Koller for me. He's always upfront and he's always top scorer. It's hard to predict who will be top for the Swiss and Turks since they are the kind of teams that have a tactic to score from any side of the field, hence, anyone could score....
GROUP B
Austria
Croatia
Germany
Poland
How many goals will be scored in group B?
Pick : Over 16,5 @ 1.90
Expecting everyone to score 3+ against or with Austria in this group. Even the big game between Germany and Croatia I expect to be over 2,50 so money on over 16 goals should be a safe bet....should!
How many group stage goals will Austria score?
Pick : Under 2,50 @ 1.80
How many group stage goals will Croatia score?
Pick : Over 4,50 @ 2.02
How many group stage goals will Germany score?
Pick : Over 5,50 @ 1.60
How many group stage goals will Poland score?
Pick : Over 3,50 @ 1.90
2 Goals are more than enough for Austria, I can't really see them scoring 3 or more, unless someone lets them. Croatia and Germany are expected to score, question is, will they deliver!? Poland's odds are nice. They can score anywhere and I'm expecting them to.
How many points will Austria score in the group stage?
Pick : 0 Points @ 4.00
How many points will Croatia record in the group stage?
Pick : 7 Points @ 6.25 or 6 Points @ 4.75
How many points will Germany record in the group stage?
Pick : 7 Points @ 3.00 or 6 Points @ 4.50
How many points will Poland record in the group stage?
Pick : 3 Points @ 4.00 or 4 Points @ 3.50
I'm sorry but I really do think Austria will struggle in this group. A group with two cup lifting candidates and a very strong underdog for the whole tournament. Germany and Croatia are expected to win both matches against the other two. Only question is, will they draw or will one of them cause an upset in the group!? Poland can easily take 4 points. A win over Austria and a draw against any of the remaining two. Will they!?
Who will score the most goals for Austria?
Pick : emmmm, no one!? :D ok, ok ... Erwin Hoffer/Roland Linz @ 4.50 ( exactly...who  )
Who will score the most goals for Croatia?
Pick : Mladen Petric @ 3.30
Who will score the most goals for Germany?
Pick : Miroslav Klose @ 3.00
Who will score the most goals for Poland?
Pick : Euzebiusz Smolarek @ 2.55
Keep an eye out for this guy - Euzebiusz Smolarek- A player very capable of scoring 2 goals per match each match... Croatia's Petric might not be familiar to many, but he's always out there for the national team and delivers. Germany's side has many fruits to pluck but my pick will be Klose as he's a real danger for teams and knows how to strike, both foot or head.
Groups C & D coming soon...

Swiss defense has had a blow with Van Bergen out of the whole thing, the rest are at 2s and 9s not knowing, or should i say, unable to gel. This is a young side with Top swiss league scorer, striker, Yakin not starting, Frie will, i think. The swiss will have huge support and pressure to do well and will be very happy with one point, Whomever wins this will, i am sure go through. The Czech's have a power house up front, Koller, he must be the biggest, strongest, striker in Europe or even the world, he is not quick but holds the ball and will only fall in the penalty area, In defence is a team on his own Prob ? i forgot his name. Voted player of the year in the Republic, which is a first for a defender in any League. X2 for me at around 1.4.
Portugal v Turkey. To follow, Before the night is out.

The player in defence you mean probably Jankulovski :)
Player of the year in Czech republic:
1.Jankulovski - AC Milan
2.Cech - Chelsea
3.Rosicky - Arsenal (he is not in Euro due to injury)

Yes he play's, Golden bollock's, Ronaldo, along with the rest of the cream in which could be the team of 2008, if this team remains intact their will be no boundries, including Germany. Turkey, I enjoy it once a year, Xmas. This nation's finest do rise to the occasion, or so it may seem, The fact is most key players rather miss out all the fundementals and only appear under the spotlight, well this Portugese side will play as a practised team, while the Turks will play individual games. No offence to Turkey, but gobble up whats on offer for a Portugese win.

Some people, including 1 or 2 Austrian,s think a chance is on hand, with a 5-1 win over Malta confidence is high in the home camp, the only Malteser, Coventry's, mifsud who could have scored, did. Croatia, have lots of Mifsud's in their team, all need to be man marked x2. No points here for this home side, that face a Croate side that turned England into mourners.
Germany, the team to beat, Poland will press, but quality will prevail. Ballack is relaxed and knows he will be in the shake up, The manager let slip the game with Belarus, but who cares, the German starting 11 will be in the final.
Back on monday.

No complaints thus far, not in this thread anyway, I will state my observations on the games so far, when i feel it prudent, but i have made some notes. Romania can play some good football, and will need to play their best to get anything from France, but France will have to have a poor game, my main consern is Ribary, he for me is thr heart, though my confidence will not be as strong without him, i will/ and have played France. If its confirmed Ribary plays,, i will double up.
Holland are in the myer and would love to have players in their squad like those of the world champions, i was considering X2 but 1.3 is not for me. With one yankee secured and one half in, i am playing these two again with tomorrows games.
Current holders Greece are finding it hard to emulate 4 years ago, and will find it hard to break down the Swede back wall, if they score i suspect it will be something speicial, The Swedes are liable to score from any angle, though a set play will be on everyones mind, A draw will be no good here, as this is the easiest either team will face. Sweden to nick it.
Spain and Russia have a top player or two sidelined, Russia are strong, but Spain are Quick, The team to score first and hold on, will be the one that settles down first, i think Spain will topple the Bear.
ENGLISH

Half time, Anelka has had the best chance, Romania hardly with the ball. I am going in again for a draw with Italy Sweden, Spain, Dont copy this, strategy unless you have already Germany and Croatia with France.
ENGLISH
06-10-2008, 01:32 PM
The bookies got some money back yesterday, Spain still remain as a winner against a depleted Russia and i see no reason to change about Sweden.
It was hard work for the Czech's v Swiss, granted everyone is cautious but Portugal settled quickly and made it clear early on that they were not going to lose any points to Turkey, Again Portugal will stamp their authority over the Czech's.
The Swiss had as much of a chance to win or at least score against the Czech's and will again have the chance to please the crowd against Turkey, this time they should get the result, if not, then you can say bye bye to them.
I am playing rolling yankee's, and am winning, though did lose a bit of profit last night but may recover something from the second part of last nights if Sweden and Spain win. I am now playing Sweden and Spain again with Portugal and Swizerland. I am also playing a sneekey with Singapore's Korean Super Reds 13.45 with Spain and Greece X1, I am edging it with Greece because of last night's fiasco
Behemoth

What are rolling yankees?
ENGLISH
06-10-2008, 02:19 PM
A basic yankee is 11 bets, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 accum.
The first 2 games on saturday, played with the 2 games on Sunday, Then the 2 games from sunday played again with the 2 on monday, then monday games played again with tues, and so on. Simple and effective, A 5 euro yankee cost 55 but i also play a further 10 on the accum. Ok.
HiyaVata
06-10-2008, 03:56 PM
yeah, yankee is good but only if you're really sure that say 9 out of 11 of your games will pass. Well, at least 9 of 11 is a good profit. Was really surprised , and then again wasn't, to see Holland beat Italy 3:0. This just complicates my group C prediction so far :)
ENGLISH
06-10-2008, 04:37 PM
I am not going to argue about the pro's and con's re the yankee with you H, as you are in my good books at the moment, re, this thread, but i will mention, if you get 3 out of 4 which invariably happens you will make profit, the odd's on offer are good, with good odd's you will get your money back plus x ammount. As far as i am conserned their are only 2 types of bet in the Euro's, the single win with large stake, or the yankee, with the same stake devided by 11.
Behemoth
06-10-2008, 07:18 PM
Ok, so that means you need 12 games for yankee, and what would be lowest odds per game to make profit if 9 games pass, can you tell me...?

Behemoth and all, Have you never played a yankee, super yankee, hienze, round robin. patent, goliath. I have played these bets for 30 years, i took it for granted that you were aware of them. I am sorry as i play one of these on a daily basis.

06-10-2008, 08:24 PM
I'm czech and we don't have these names yankee, super yankee, hienze, round robin. patent, goliath... (however I know what these names mean). We use name "Kombinator" or "Acumulator" for these bets.
I like it and play it almost every day. today I have some 4/6, 3/5, 4/5 and 5/7 bets :)

From Japan 2, at noon, i have gone for Cerezo Osaka and have played with them Portugal, Swizerland in a patent, which is 3 wins, 3 doubles, 1 treble.
I already have Spain and sweden in the yankee with Portugal and Swizerland, i am now playing tonights 2 again with Germany and Poland.
I will come back in a bit, with my opinion re tonights games. And by the way HV I READ ALL POSTS, and have complimented you on your recent threads, i jumped on Shakeel because he has proven me wrong on a few occasions, so now if i intend to unload on a game, i wait to see what he has to say.

Portugal will out play the Czech's they have so much talent to call upon a win tonight will see them through, a win will also see the Czech's through, i expect an open attacking game with the class of Portugal having the edge.
I have no consern over Swizerland in losing Frie, he is replaced by the countries top scorer Yakin who is older and more expierienced, The Turks at the moment are short at least 3 top players and will suffer their loss.
Germany have plenty in reserve they brushed aside the Pole's with hardly breaking into a sweat, Croatia will have to find something special to even score.
Austria will be the first to drop out as Poland will find this game much easier than the Germans, this will be the only game that the pole's will win.

I am happy with yesterday's results though would have won a lot more if the Swiss had held on, Thanks to Behemoth, Lecce made my day.
Germany may have to step up a gear tonight, we shall see, either way a German win.
Austria will try to make a game but Poland are gunning for second spot and will i think put the host out with a convincing win.
I am playing Italy in this yankee, i dont think Romania will get a look in.
Holland are playing top level football, Henry will be back for france up front with Viera commanding the midfield, depending on the odd's, France win/draw.
20 Euro win double Germany, Poland.
5 Euro yankee, Germany, Poland, Italy, France.

I will try making a yankee with those damned Singapore teams again, I'll play Gombak away win, but will drop France, I'm suspicious about it... Was it all Italy's fault that they got beaten by Holland? Why do you think that France will make it against Holland? Does Henry change things that much?
btw Did Rybery play against Romania?
ENGLISH

Ribery took part, but did not play, if you get what i mean. Yes i think with Henry and Viera confidence will soar in the french camp.

All my profit from last week went out the window last night. It seems any game in the balance no matter how well or how bad the play is going, the ref's are the ones that decide who wins. How much longer, befor technology plays its part, we still need ref's, but when a decision is made over a goal or a sending off. footage must be used. The World cup finals may see some gadgetry, i hope we see proper league results and ref's taken to task, theirafter.
A few disapointments does not constitute a disaster, i am still playing the rolling yankee, Spain, Russia, Portugal, Czech Rep. all to win.
Dont forget the world cup games, their are some easy pickings if you are shrewd.
I will keep in touch with the World cup games, durring the Euro and after, i am also keeping in tight with transfer news in English leagues, Note the League cup kicks off August 11.

Also, there never came Part III: groups C & D... :)
Ok, cutting the crap, what do you people think on Greece and Russia match tonight? Do Pogrebnyak and Arshavin play tonight etc.?
That could add some dynamics to their game...

If two teams are equal of points...
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of all the matches in their group, the following criteria will be used to determine the rankings in the order given: a) number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question; b) goal difference in the matches among the teams in question; c) number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question; d) goal difference; e) number of goals scored; f) coefficient from the qualifying competitions for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2006/08 UEFA Europian Football Championship g) fair play conduct; h) drawing of lots.
If two teams which have the same number of points, the same number of goals scored and conceded play their last group match against each other and are still equal at the end of the match, the ranking of the two teams in question will be determined by kicks from the penalty mark, provided no other teams within the group have the same number of points.

A result last night, for me anyway, Italy to win will be good, and fill my treble,
I have bet again on over 2.5 goals on both games tonight, in a double, just 10Euro. I've not touched tomorrows as yet, i will wait to see what i win tonight, I am hoping XP43's game in Estonia comes through, i have the game as a win double with Germany, also X2 with Germany and Italy. I will get a return.
ENGLISH
06-18-2008, 01:16 PM
Yep, i have a return, about time Italy did something, but its not looking to good in the next round for them, with 2 top players carded.
Russia, is for me, they will have a little more to offer tonight, perhaps just enough to get the result, obviously it will be tight as the Swedes have always been a hard team to play.
Spain may well rest players, then again maybe not, as Holland, they may look for a Championship without dropping any points, if this occures either manager will write his own figure on a blank cheque, Spain to win.
10 on Russia to win, 25 on Spain to win, 10 on the double. Thats all my profit for this week so far, Laid out.

Just wondering..... would it be possible that we will finally see a draw tonight. So far every duo that needed to go through ended with one side winning...In this case Sweden go through on goal difference..fuck this...I'll throw all my money on over 0,5 & 1 goals first half....

My bets are struck and i am not going in again, but it is worth trying speculative bets, like for instance, Ht Sweden Ft Russia, 1 euro reversed at 30/1 and the same with the Spain game, though i doubt Greece will get close to a goal.

No H, I did not play it, I was happy with the way my bet was laid and felt fairly confident, i did not want to put the mockers on. It is worth looking at on occasion, If you pick 4 games with the underdog to go in at Ht in front, you have a good chance of getting 2 correct at 900/1.
Tonight, could go either way, but i am waiting for Germany to click, Klose and Gomez have been out of it up to now, tonight will be a good time for them to start playing. I am taking Germany with Finlands Kuopon at 17.30, I am also going for Helsinki and Lahti with Kuopon. I will also play Germany with Croatia, i have not decided how i will play the last, i will decide after the Finland games.
The return i got from last night, keeps me motivated, but not enough to make me rash, I broke even last week, this week i will stay up, so 30 Euro's is my max for today unless the Finland games come in.

I think Holland will lift the cup
Providing they play like they did
As i mentioned, Im all in tonight with Croatia... as the French would say "kke sera sera", or as us Serbs would say "Koga Sere sere" :)

It is a fixed game, Holland will let Russia go to 1/2 finals, and Russia will provide them with gas and oil for next 2 years.

Holland will be solid, I am looking for something to go with them, Italy are prime candidates if i find nothing else.

Nah..I don't think Russia will go futher. Holland will not fuck around with them like Croatia with Turkey.
Italy will not qualify I will go against those suckers.

One political is involved in this case, and no Holland, no Italy, and no somekind of EURO 2008 can stop them from what they want.
Russia may be weak in football, but political status of Russian Federation is strong enough to get anything they want.
Russians offer something that "no one" can deny.

Roger-d please.... So you're saying Russia is willing to give up billions of dollars over a 2 year span, just so that they can see their team reach the semi finals and earn 5 milion euros!?!? Russia is a very good team, I said it in my first thread but no one seems to read anything anymore...
