BAYERN MUNICH v ZENIT ST. PETERSBURG

Bayern Munich had a poor season last year but now they are on course to win four trophies at stake having already claimed the League Cup and last eekend they captured the German Cup by beating Borussia Dortmund.
Now they are on course to win their domestic league title as well as the UEFA Cup, Europe's second biggest prize at stake.

They will however not be at full strength as Luca Toni who has been scoring goals for them of late received a booking in the 3-3 draw with Getafe in their last round which means he is suspended for this tie.

The German giants will have to depend on German International Miroslav Klose here to get the goals.

In the last round Bayern Munich needed two extra time goals to see off Spanish side Getafe in the quarter-finals stage.

Otmar Hitzfield has stated to his team that they must not under-estimate Zenit as they are the strongest opponents they will face in the competition.
But Bayern Munich still has a very good attack as they have scored 32 goals entroute to the semi-finals now. But Hitzfeld has stated that he will also concentrate on defence as they must restrict their opponents from scoring as well.

Bayern Munich knows home ground advantage is vital in the first leg so they ill go for as many goals as they can score here.

Let's take a look at Bayern Munich's lat three home games. They beat Borussia Dortmund in their last Bundesliga match 5-0, prior to that tbey beat Bochum 3-1, but they did drew with stubborn Getafe 1-1 in the UEFA Cup.

As for Zebit, they are only playing the UEFA Cup as their domestic season is over. Their last three away UEFA Cup games have seen them beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 (which was a surprise result), lost to Marseille 3-1 and lost to Villarreal 2-1.

I will go for Bayern Munich to win here, but the visitors could get a goal here as they have been on target on every away match in the past three UEFA Cup games on their travels. Take Bayern Munich and give the 1 ball here.

THE PICK : Bayern Munich to win 2-1 or 3-1.
FIXED ODDS BETTING : Take Bayern Munich to win here.
HANDICAP BETTING : Take Bayern Munich and give the 1 ball here.

FT Result: 1-1

GLASGOW RANGERS v FIORENTINA

Glasgow Rangers of the Scottish Premier League, face Serie A side Fiorentina, in the other semi-final.

The Scots are victims of their own success, as the first leg at Ibrox will be their 57th game of a season that has already brought success in the Scottish League Cup, an upcoming Scottish FA Cup final appearance, and the strong likelihood of the SPL title.

Defeat in the Old Firm Derby last week was however a blow, and they again face Celtic three days after this game, providing further distraction. Fatigue shouldn’t however, be an issue as the Gers eye their first European final in 38 years.

There will be inevitable references to when the sides met 47 years ago in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup Final which the Italians won, however, recent form is far more relevant.

Rangers are yet to concede at home in the competition, while La Viola showed their mettle on the road, winning 2-0 at European stalwarts, PSV Eindhoven in the last eight.

Adrian Mutu scored both goals on that occasion, and the Romanian is showing a new found maturity, leaving behind the controversy of his departure from Chelsea after drug issues.

Fiorentina are on course to displace AC Milan as the fourth placed qualifiers for next season’s Champions League showing their rising pedigree.

PinnacleSports.com could NOT split the sides for this first leg offering "level ball" handicap odds of Rangers 1.980 and Fiorentina 1.943 - but betting money has come onto the Italian side pushing their price down now.

TEAM NEWS

Rangers are without nine members of their first-team squad for the semi-final.

Key personnel such as goalkeeper Allan McGregor, the hero of the Round of 16 victory over Werder Bremen, midfielder Lee McCulloch and winger Chris Burke are all nursing injuries while Kevin Thomson and skipper Barry Ferguson are suspended.

Fiorentina have midfielder Marco Donadel suspended, while Tomas Ujfalusi suffered a thigh strain in the weekend win against US Citta di Palermo – and will wait until the last minute to prove his fitness.

THE VERDICT

Rangers are missing a lot of players but they're still very much likely to stick to the pattern that's been successful and that suggests a careful low scoring affair.

I feel that Fiorentina are a real danger in attack though, and this time the draw might not be scoreless.

The Pick : Glasgow Rangers 1-1 Fiorentina
FIXED ODDS BETTING :

FT Result: 0-0
